PWC Boston Celebrates Industry Leaders at Third Annual Awards Celebration

Six outstanding women earned awards at the Boston Chapter celebration

Boston, MA (October 21, 2024) – The Boston Chapter of Professional Women in Construction (PWC), a national organization dedicated to connecting, promoting, and advancing women in the industry and actively engaging women and men from AEC and affiliated firms, announced the winners of its annual awards program at its Awards Celebration last week.

In just their third year hosting the event, PWC Boston welcomed over 130 architecture, engineering, and construction professionals on Thursday, October 17, to celebrate the industry and, in particular, the achievements of the six award winners. This year’s event welcomed Diana Fernandez Bibeau PLA, ASLA, Deputy Chief of Urban Design with the Boston Planning & Development Agency, as emcee and keynote speaker, as well as a new “Thank You” category to show appreciation to an individual who has consistently given their time and effort to the chapter.

Rising Star: Paige Blanchard, Senior Project Engineer, Nitsch Engineering

Excellence in Mentorship: Danielle Fontaine Yeaton, Science Planner, Flad Architects

Volunteer of the Year: Janet Tse, Senior Project Manager, Northstar Project & Real Estate Services

The PWC Boston Awards Celebration was established to recognize the professionals who are pioneering efforts for women and fostering a more diverse workforce in the AEC community throughout the Greater Boston area and beyond. This year’s event took place once again at Artists for Humanity, an organization that offers art and design opportunities to under-resourced teens, with the awards being unique pieces created by AFH artists. Additionally, most of the event’s vendors, including catering by Gourmet Caterers and videography by Emma Lula, were local businesses owned by women or minorities.

“As we celebrate the achievements of our award winners, we also reaffirm our commitment to fostering a more inclusive and diverse construction industry,” says Keri DiLeo, president of PWC Boston and vice president & partner at Scalora Consulting Group. “Each of these remarkable individuals exemplifies the talent and dedication that drives our community forward.”

The PWC Boston Chapter remains dedicated to empowering women and promoting diversity within the construction industry. By honoring these outstanding individuals and supporting local businesses, the chapter not only highlights the achievements of its members but also contributes to the greater community. The success of this year’s event reflects the collective efforts to drive change and inspire the next generation of leaders in the AEC field.
